A controversial former Married at First Sight UK contestant is making an extraordinary leap from reality television to politics — by entering a crowded by-election battle against Nigel Farage and Count Binface.
Luke Worley, who appeared in the 2023 series of the Channel 4 dating experiment, has announced plans to stand as an independent candidate in Clacton. The surprise move comes after Farage’s resignation triggered a by-election, with the Reform UK leader expected to fight for the seat again.

Worley was removed from MAFS UK following an altercation with fellow groom Jordan Gayle, making his sudden move into politics especially eye-catching. He later appeared on Dating Naked and has continued to attract attention through outspoken comments about his reality television experiences.
However, the Essex businessman insists his campaign should not be dismissed as another celebrity stunt.
Worley says he grew up in Clacton and understands the pressures facing local residents. He has promised to focus on the condition of the high street, roads, employment opportunities, affordability and ensuring voters have a representative who answers to the community rather than a political party.
The developing contest is already looking far from conventional. Alongside Farage and Worley, satirical political candidate Count Binface is also expected to stand, adding another unpredictable figure to a race attracting national attention. Reports have also linked former actor Laurence Fox with the contest.
Worley has joked that surviving reality television means politics should be comparatively straightforward. Yet beneath the humour, he appears determined to present himself as a genuine local alternative to better-known political names.
Reaction online has been sharply divided. Some voters have welcomed the prospect of an independent candidate with deep local roots, while others remain sceptical about whether reality TV fame provides the experience needed for Parliament.
The by-election could now become one of Britain’s most unusual political battles — blending national politics, protest candidates and celebrity culture in a contest few could have predicted.
🗳️ Whether Luke Worley becomes a serious challenger or simply adds another dramatic chapter to his public story, Clacton’s voters are about to face a ballot paper unlike almost any other.
